Jennifer Conn is a psychotherapist and licensed social worker who specializes in working with young people. Jennifer pursued her Masters in Social Service at Bryn Mawr Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research with the intention of researching and developing child development policy and programs. However, Jennifer’s clinical experience as a School Social Worker in both middle and high schools during her Masters program clarified her desire to work directly with kids, and to specialize in advanced therapeutic tools designed for young people.
Jennifer has received extensive additional training in treating social anxiety, generalized anxiety disorders and depression; OCD and disordered eating issues, trauma and psychodynamics; creative art therapies for kids and teens; special needs education in public schools; suicide prevention + screenings; and extensive training in CBT, or Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. CBT is particularly useful for social anxiety, depression as well as OCD — and allows a strengths-based therapeutic approach that is intensive but relatively short-term. Jennifer has also recently received training to conduct individual or group DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) with young adults.
Jennifer completed a year-long certificate in CBT with comprehensive training at Bryn Mawr College in Spring 2020. Jennifer also serves on the board of Adoptions from the Heart, a non-profit adoption agency located in Wynnewood, Pa.
Jennifer received her BA from Smith College and graduated from Germantown Friends School after growing up in Narberth and attending LMSD public schools. She lives on the Main Line with her husband, Juan, a Professor at University of the Arts in Philadelphia, and their son Alex, a college student.
Jennifer was adopted from South Korea in 1975 at the age of two years old. Click here for more on Jennifer’s family and her work with adoptees.
